Holidays do bring on cheer and of course some weight gain! Salads are an indispensable formula to keep those extra pounds at bay. So how about some heart and star shaped cucumber slices for that extra zest?
These fancy shaped cucumbers are grown in Japan by Heart Stick. The cucumbers when young are kept in plastic molds so that when fully grown and sliced you get the heart and star shaped salad entities. The price for these special contoured cucumbers isn't hefty either. In Japanese yen it is ¥105 [≈$1.25]. As seen in the pictures, they do sparkle up meals.
