Energy monitoring is one of the simplest and most effective ways to lower your home's environmental footprint — as well as your power bills. Systems such as Google's PowerMeter allow you to check your power usage and can help shave 5-15% off your annual energy bill. In a bid to increase the connectivity of their energy monitoring tool, Google just announced an alliance with Blue Line Innovation that will allow consumers to measure their carbon footprint via a PC or smartphone.
