All of us know how Rubik's Cube works. So it is quite easy to fathom that how difficult it would have been to recreate something as majestic as Michelangelo's 'The Creation of Adam' with a palette of just six colors available on a Rubik's cube. The gigantic art piece is called the The Hand of God and has been put together by the Cube Works Studio. It consists of 12,090 Rubik's cubes in which each cube was patiently solved by 11 puzzle lovers to achieve the color combination that was required for creating the entire structure.

[For comparison we have attached the Rubik's cube creation followed by the painting itself.]

Josh Chalom, the creative director states that after the painting was pixelated there was a confusion with the computers in comprehending the various aspects of the image like depth, shades and tones. Although it were a painstaking hurdle to overcome, he was surprised at how fast the team of 11 were solving the cubes in obtaining the correct color combination on the faces. It was like they made each one possible in 12 seconds. Created in 400 hours, The Hand Of God has bagged the title of Largest Piece of Rubik's Cube Art Ever Created by Guinness World Records.

The story doesn't end here for what has been created is the completion of one part of a dream. Plans are in line to recreate the "the entire ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, a project that will be hung from a roof and weigh 50 tonnes and use 250,000 cubes." It surely would be an amazing modern twist of the masterpiece on a monumental scale! Check out the video below to see how The Hand of God was put together.
