Facebook has gone to the cats, thanks to cat food manufacturer Friskies, which will open the doors to the Friskies Plus Playhouse to 10 cats for the next two weeks.

The Friskies Plus Playhouse allows Facebook users who have liked the company's page to tune in daily from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time through February 19 and interact with the fabulous felines.

Users can operate four fully movable and zoomable cameras and "play" with actual cats in real-time.

The 10 participating cats are all foster cats available for adoption through the MeoowzResQ network, based in Orange County in Southern California, and they were chosen using criteria including personality and age to maximize interplay.

The Friskies Plus Playhouse includes an aquarium, a touch floor for the animals to partake in Friskies Games for Cats, and several climbing spaces, and the Friskies Facebook community will drive the addition of more features, voting on options such as a large climbing tree, a tunnel system, and a bubble machine.

TV-production outfit Zodiak USA is helping Friskies with production of the Friskies Plus Playhouse, and fans who miss the live feed can catch up via the Friskies YouTube channel.

Friskies Assistant Brand Manager Alison Coburn said:

Friskies is always looking for new ways to enhance play experiences for cats. We're asking our Friskies Facebook community to join us in this one-of-a-kind engagement opportunity to help create a space as amazing as the cats that will live there for the next two weeks. They can tune in daily to see how the cats respond to their choices in real-time, and find new inspiration for play with their own cats. And we hope they'll be inspired to help ensure that these cats and many more find forever homes.
