"Stray Light Grey" is an elaborate exhibition made up of a series of rooms installed in the Marlborough Chelsea gallery in Manhattan. Visitors enter the exhibition through a gaping hole in the gallery's bathroom, then proceed through a series of bizarre indoor environments: a betting parlor, an old-fashioned private library, a plastic surgery clinic, and a contemporary art gallery, among others. The exhibition is a collaboration between artists Jonah Freeman and Justin Lowe. "Stray Light Grey" is on display through October 27.
A warren of corridors, chambers and passageways is configured into a spatial collage that gives a fragmented vision of a parallel metropolis. As if the visitor has entered a bizarro New York City simulated in a foreign country where the details have been perverted in translation.
