'braid dead' rug by timothy liles

the museum of arts and design's open studios program is a public
workspace in which invited artists of all mediums can work and interact
with the museum's visitors. from the 19th to the 23rd of october, 2010,
new hampshire-based artist timothy liles is hand-dyeing meters and meters
of wool and hand braiding them into circular area rugs.

liles, who is also the designer behind the crayon ring, has experimented
with the technique in the past: 'braid dead' is a double-sided wool rug which
combines modern pop icon with traditional construction methods.
